Sorry this Mac thing may or may not be getting out of hand! But look at my handsome, beardy man. Meltttt.

School is in session, folks.  My last semester before I enter Nursing school, hopefully. I have sent away my applications and now I'm playing the waiting game.  Oh, waiting game. Such a cruel mistress.  Trying hard to boost my gpa, though.  SIGH.  I am having fun just being with Nate every single day.  We've been living together for around 6 months now and it's been the best.  He is trying his hardest to snag a proper job as he just graduated in December (Mechanical Engineering). They're are a couple prospects! Our fingers are crossed.
Oh, and THIS PUPPY IS KILLING ME.

I recently watched the Coal Miner's Daughter! I absolutely loved it. I'll be posting about that later.

I was walking far from home

This title is from a song off Iron and Wine's new album. So amazingly catchy and just plain ol' good.We went to the Chrysler Museum of Art this past Wednesday. We actually just wanted to take a little walk but we ended up walking by the Hague and decided to just pop in the Chrysler. It is FREE, after all.

Approaching the strange interactive exhibit!
US! After a minute or two of trying to figure out what this thing was.

It was a nice day spent together. We topped the day off with frozen yogurt at SKINNY DIP. Perhaps a new obsession? There's one right down the street from us!!

The Big Easy

What a day! I feel like we've been non-stop since 8 this morning. We woke up to banging on our apartment door early this morning. Nate stumbled out of bed (we we're, of course, snoozin'!) and got to the door after what seemed like 5 minutes of constant banging and door bell ringing. Alas, it was the police claiming someone had called about gun shots and a body hitting the floor (!!!!!!WHAT!!!!) and wanted to know if we knew anything about it. WHAT? Norfolk, you crazy.  A beautiful start to our day.  I had class soon after that. Got into a verbal tussle with the parking garage attendant. Let's not go there. We trekked all the way out to Virginia Beach to go to Trader Joe's. Why, Ghent, why do you have no Trader Joe's yet Virginia Beach does? Give us a TJ's! We got some goodies + the unbelievable Charles Shaw wine that my friend Kelsie introduced me to. $3.29 bottle of delicious wine? Yes, please. We trekked all the way back to downtown, Norfolk to meet my parents for dinner at The Big Easy. It was so yummy!! I got the honey BBQ chicken. Nate got meatloaf! We split the bourbon bread pudding for dessert. I'm stuffed as can be right now.  Somewhere in between all these errands we stopped by Nate's parent's house.  Let me introduce you to Maisie; their cute as heck yellow lab!

We want a dog so bad! One day. We want to be very very financially sound when we take that leap. I'd also love to be done with school so I have more time to devote to her. We've picked out names already, though. We will treat this pup like a child, I'm telling you. Nate is partial to labs because he grew up with that breed. I like labradoodles! We'll see.

Dinner and a Movie

We had a date night last night! Dinner and a movie is quite possibly the best date night combination. We ate at Gordon Biersch at Town Center in Virginia Beach. They brew their own beer! We each got a talllll as heck glass of the Marzen based on a recommendation by the waitress. It was tasty! I couldn't finish mine so Nate drank the last half. I told him I wish they would offer petite beers as I can usually never finish mine. Hah! To accompany our beer we both got BURGERS. This is us pre-date being goofs.

(I cut my bangs so short the other day! They look funny. Thankfully my hair grows at a rate at which I can rarely keep up with.)

We saw The Kings Speech after dinner. It was amazing. I am in love with British period movies. (Recently saw An Education, too. Loved it.) It stars Colin Firth as King George VI who overcomes his speech impediment.  I thought the acting was impeccable. The scenes were so detailed and captivating.

Successful date night. Now I'm enjoying some nana bread and french press coffee. Life is good.

New Blog, First Post

Walking off our delicious lunch of curry veggie soup and leek and potato soup. I do believe we are officially fans of leeks. We actually roasted a W H O L E chicken + veggies not too long ago (watching Nate pull out the innards was a beautiful sight to behold) and the recipe called for leeks. LEEKS? We had no clue how to even prepare them. This is what Nate had in mind.
All hail the LEEK!
