I have been watching My So-Called Life nonstop.  Can't get enough high school drama + 90s fashion.  That said I thought I would channel Angela Chase for a minute.  Dream 90s outfit, commence. PS!! Why can't Angela see that Brian Krakow is obsessed with her!???

The past few days have been dreary as hell.  I'm not complaining. I like rainy days.  Another reason I feel I belong in the Pacific Northwest.  Also, it justifies my homebodyness. I've been listening to rainy day music all day. Joe Pug, Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes, Loretta Lynn.  Mmmm.

I went thrifting as soon as I got my lazy butt outta bed this morning.  Well,  after coffee and a blueberry bagel.  Snagged a few neat things.  Took everything I had not buy 2 end tables, a tacky yellow couch, a giant embroidered sunflower, and a magazine rack.  Whew.

Not too bad.

Oh! Exciting news.  We bought our first game.  We realized we own absolutely no games. Pathetic.  We bought one online from Marbles: The Brain Store. They have a really neat selection of games.  We bought Quoridor! It's fun.  We're still trying to figure out the techniques.

I'm clearly having the time of my life. I need to work on my camera face.

Plants are making me very happy these days.  My spinach and tomato seeds have germinated and  I'll be potting them soon. Wish me luck. Seriously.  No idea what I'm doing.

I spontaneously bought some yeast at the store.  Any idea what bread I should bake?! Oh the possibilities.  The weather is getting so warm. It's actually nice to be able to step out on the balcony and not get chilly.  I'm excited about the upcoming season.  YET, I am also vexed.  Warm weather means shorts/skirts means having to shave my legs every day.  I suppose I don't HAVE to...oh shoot, yes I absolutely do.

"Back to the grind" is a phrase I hate to use when used seriously but love to use when I'm, oh say, grinding coffee. It then becomes cute and funny.  Going back to work and facing grownup obligations is such a bummer.   I want to go back to rural Virginia where traffic jams don't exist and you can see trees for miles. My svpply screams secret cozy cabin home hidden in the woods so try and find me suckers. Wishful thinking, Megen.

The past few days have been really wonderful.  Me and Nate rented a cottage in Luray, VA for two nights.   Some peaceful landscape and fresh air is exactly what we needed.  We didn't have any definitive plans except to hike Old Rag Mtn.  We dragged ourselves out of bed at 5:30 AM on Wednesday morning, guzzled some coffee and headed out.  It was misty as anything that morning and didn't seem to settle but rather got increasingly dreary as the day went on.  It made for a beautiful hike.  We hiked the 8 mile trail and I'm feeling the aches in my muscles two days later.  They're good aches.  Feated aches.

We left Thursday at around 11:00 AM and headed to North Mountain Vineyard about an hour North of where we were.  We wanted to pick up a couple bottles of wine and really just check the place out.  They're website was quaint including pictures of adorable dogs in scarfs.  Could we pass that up? Nay.  We ended up in Front Royal, VA and on a SERIOUS whim decided to head to Woodbridge, VA to ....dun dun dun...IKEA.  Ikea gets me pretty excited.  I'm sorry but you tell me where you can go spend $65.00 and drive home with a car FULL of useful stuff.  AND 75cent coffee. TELL ME. Can't, can ya?

We got home at 10:00 PM and met some friends for drinks downtown.  I had 3 whisky sours too many and surprisingly didn't feel like crap this morning. Nate is another story. To reward myself for not being hungover I bought a little rose bush and a shamrock plant today.  Pictures to come.

Welp I'm still in bed at 1:13 PM. I had quite a night. Sick as a dog, again. Again, of course, implying that I've been sick like this before.  I have a temperamental little GI tract.  I basically upchucked all my yummy Ten Top dinner, which I'm still pissed about. I payed good money for that dinner! I'll spare the details but let me tell you, it wasn't fun.  Luckily Nate's mom is a walking pharmacy so she delivered some strong drugs to minimize the pain and nausea. She is a kind kind woman. I really can't emphasize that enough. So I didn't go to work today because I still felt like a ball of crap when I woke up.  Anyways.  Yesterday evening I went to the Mid-Atlantic flower show in Virginia Beach.  A waste of $10 to get in to the actual show, which wasn't really all flowers like I had thought.  There were some vendors in front of the entrance of the show that were selling some pretty plants.  I bought a Declaration Lilac that I hope I'll be able to pot and put on the back porch.  I know those things can get pretty big but hopefully with maintenance pruning it won't get too out of control.  I also snagged a climbing Yellow Jasmine.  I wish I had space for a really tall trellis for it to grow on. I'm really excited to watch them grow (hopefully).

Two posts in one day seems a bit much? What's that? There can never be enough posts in one day, you say? Great! I've been meaning to post these but haven't gotten around to it as they're on Nate's computer and not mine. These are from the past couple of months.  They have a cold, grey, winter feel so I thought they should be posted before the flowers start blooming.
Photographs taken by my mister. (Except the one with him in it.)
